Location: Santa Barbara, California, United States

I am a Landscape Architect and own my own design firm, True Nature, in Santa Barbara. I am interested in sustainability, ecological and historic restoration, water quality, water conservation, and lowering automobile dependency with green design for numerous reasons. These values enrich my design work by igniting creativity and a desire to make places that people will enjoy and want to care for. I also enjoy watercolor painting, kayaking, and hiking around beautiful Santa Barbara.

Due to inclement weather, the school changed our field trip from San Giminano to Perugia. We started out by touring the chocolate factory, which was pretty amazing. Unfortunately the company was bought out by Nestle...guess that kind of stuff happens everywhere. After the chocolate factory, we were dropped off outside the Perusia city wall. Another Tuscan Hilltop town, the views from the top of the city walls were incredible. Asissi is directly across the valley, and was glowing in the soft light.

Kim, Joel and Kari on the wall. Kim is falling off here!

Beautiful Olive orchards behind the church. The stone work here is in hues of pinks, most likely from iron deposits in local stone quarries.

This was an adorable restaurant. It was a bit pricey, so we passed.

The Griffin is the City of Perusia's symbol.

Fountain in the main piazza. The national art museum is the building in the back.

Ken eating again. I wonder if it's any good?

More amazing views.

This church is all stonework. The colors of the stone in the area is really interesting.

Layers of time all over the city.

This was a wonderful pizza place. The pizza was cooked in this stone fire oven you see here...it was delicious! I love the food here!!!!

One of the highlights of Perusia was this amazing stone stairway.

Ok, well maybe this dessert case was the highlight of Perusia. We got a cafe Macciato and a tray of these dark chocolate covered bon bon things..it had some kind of cookie center with gelato. TO DIE for.
