Capri
Sarah & I took a day trip out to Capri. We signed up for a tour of the coastline on a small boat for the day. It was a pretty cloudy day, but we still chose to sit on the bow of the boat..we were the only two up there. There were only 8 people on the boat, which made for a very relaxing trip.
Positano from the water
Heading out along the coastline to Capri
Sheer cliffs. You can see the road in the middle of the picture...they're pretty scarry to drive on. You definitely don't want to go off the road here.
White Grotto
The boat driver actually took us through this sea arch.
The town of capri spills through this valley from one side of the island to the other.
Waiting for the famous blue grotto. We randomly ran into Kirsten & Raphael who had come on a boat from Amalfi. We actually got to go into the grotto at the same time...pretty fun. It's a completely chatotic experience...everyone gets into little dinghys and lines up in front of a tiny hole in the cliff. When the tide pulls out, everyone lays down flat and the boat shoots into the grotto, which is a giant cave. The water is illuminated by sunshine from the outside and glows a magnificent blue inside the cave.

Raphael
Inside the grotto. the boatmen serenade inside the cave - very intertaining.
After the blue grotto, the boat dropped us off on Capri for a few hours. We hiked up the town to the far side of the island to a public garden. From there, we saw this great old villa. We wandered down around town and managed to find it unexpectedly.
Front side of Capri toward the harbor
Heading back to Positano it rained a bit, then cleared up some. It was still beautiful.
Back to Positano. This was the last of our fall break. We headed back to Castiglion Fiorentino for a few days rest before school started up again. After two weeks straight of travelling, it was fantastic to be back 'home'.
